A small gorge at the south coast of East Crete between Pefki village and the touristic resort of Makri Gialos. The best way to start walking the gorge is from Pefki village, which is 7 kms far from Revans Studios, Makri Gialos.
The name Knossos survives from ancient Greek references to the major city of Crete. The identification of Knossos with the Bronze Age site is supported by tradition and by the Roman coins that were scattered over the fields surrounding the pre-excavation site, then a large mound named Kephala Hill, elevation 85 m (279 ft) from current sea level.
Sitia Airport (IATA: JSH, ICAO: LGST) is a small community airport in the region Bonta of Sitia Municipality, on the eastern part of Crete in Greece. The facility is serving the city of Sitia. The airport is located 1 km north/northwest of the city center.
